A new article just released by Redfin offered suggestions from industry leaders in the area of modern home design. When they sought out people in the know for the latest in modern design trends, Redfin came to Baker Residential—and we’re honored!
“How to Design a Tasteful Modern Home” presents tips on the key aspects of architecture for this popular style. We were featured in the article—in great company alongside nationally recognized architects and designers. As one of these “experts in modern architecture”, here’s the advice we offered to Redfin’s readers:
“Homeowners should consider the overall personality they want in their new home. Next, infuse it into a functional layout with sensible flow and then consider the home’s ‘performance’. How does it allow you to live comfortably? Baker Residential looks at how individuals live in their homes and then incorporates specific features that might be overlooked in some designs. Double islands add valuable workspace in the kitchen, for example. Ten-foot ceilings accentuate the openness in a room. Flexible spaces—like a loft or bonus room—literally allow room for growth.”
Redfin is the online real estate company serving more than 90 markets in the U.S. and Canada. They’ve recognized the growing demand for modern design, but the need to approach it in a manner that also infuses essential functionality. Paul B. Clark, one of the architects quoted in “How to Design a Tasteful Modern Home”, explained “modern design begins with functional matters, which today include a great sensitivity towards living healthfully and sustainably.”
